Your baby is turning ONE! How did that happen so fast? One minute they were a tiny newborn, and now they're crawling, standing, maybe even taking those wobbly first steps. This milestone deserves to be celebrated—and what better way than with cake, balloons, and a whole lot of messy fun?
I've been photographing first birthdays throughout southern NH and the Boston area since 2005, and honestly, cake smash sessions are some of my favorites. The giggles, the curiosity, those frosting-covered faces—it's pure joy captured in photos. And yes, I handle all the setup and cleanup, so you can just sit back and watch your little one have the time of their life!

Cake smash sessions are designed around your baby's natural energy and (let's be honest) short attention span. These sessions move quickly to capture every adorable moment before your little one's interest shifts to something else entirely.
At this age, babies are full of personality, curiosity, and playful exploration. They're either confidently crawling, standing proudly, or taking those first wobbly steps—and we'll capture all of it! From cheeky grins and curious glances to messy hands and cake-covered faces, every detail of this milestone gets documented.
What we'll capture:
Clean portraits before the chaos begins (yes, we start with nice, tidy shots!)
Your baby discovering the cake (some dive right in, others are more cautious—both are adorable)

In the blink of an eye, they grow, but the memories of their first moments stay forever.
After all that messy cake fun, we finish with the cutest part—a bubbly bath in an adorable mini clawfoot tub! Your little one will love getting cleaned up in warm water filled with bubbles, and it creates the sweetest candid moments.
Giggles, splashes, tiny toes kicking in the water, soapy bubbles everywhere—these bath shots are always a hit! Plus, it's the perfect way to make sure your baby leaves fresh and clean after all that frosting-filled fun. Trust me, you'll love these photos just as much as the cake smash ones!
My Process
1.Say Hello
Start by filling out my contact form or send me a quick text. During the booking process, we'll set a time to chat on the phone or meet over Zoom for a pre-session consultation. You're always welcome to come to the studio, but I totally get how busy life is with a little one!
2.Lets get you on my calendar
Milestone sessions are perfect for capturing your baby's first year:
3 Month Sessions capture their unique emerging personality
Sitter Sessions (6-8 months) when they've mastered sitting up on their own
Cake Smash Sessions are the fun way to celebrate turning one! (You can also do a regular portrait session without the cake if you prefer)
3.Picture time
Cake smash sessions typically last about an hour. We start with clean portraits, move into the cake smashing fun, and finish with that adorable bubble bath. It goes quickly, but we pack a lot of cuteness into that hour!
4.the reveal
After the session, I carefully review all the images and select the best ones based on expressions, smiles, lighting, and overall adorableness. We'll set a time to meet in person or over Zoom to view your images. Together we'll build your collection and select your favorites—no pressure, just choosing what makes your heart happy!

FAQ
What is included with the Cake Smash Session?
The session includes pre-cake portraits, the cake smash itself, and post-cake splash portraits in the bubble bath (which is often everyone's favorite part!). I provide a simple plain white cake and balloon garland complimentary with each session. If you prefer a different theme or setup, we can totally customize it. And if you don't want cake or balloons at all, that's fine too!
How many outfit changes can we do?
You're welcome to bring as many outfits as you want, but here's the reality—the session is only an hour and it goes really quickly. To keep your baby's attention and cooperation, I strongly recommend no more than two outfit changes. We want to capture the fun before they're over it!
Do we have to do the cake smash and bubble bath for a one year session?
Nope! You're welcome to do a simple portrait session without cake or balloons if that's more your style. We always start with clean portraits before bringing out the cake anyway, so we can absolutely just stick with those if you prefer.
How quickly can we get the pictures?
I work fast! Your images can be available to view at the reveal within a few days after the session. Once you select your favorites, the fully edited images take a few more days before they're ready for you.
Can we do family portraits as well?
With the session being short and quick, we can quickly squeeze in a few family portraits. Be prepared to sit on the floor if we will be doing family portraits.
Do you provide the cake?
Yes! I provide a simple white smash cake with each session. If you want something more elaborate or a specific theme, you're welcome to bring your own cake or order one from a local bakery.
