The Best Time to Capture Beautiful Newborn Photos
One of the most common questions new parents ask is: “What is the best time to do a newborn photoshoot?” The answer largely depends on the type of images you want to capture. As a professional Boston newborn photographer, I always guide my clients to schedule their sessions at the most optimal time for breathtaking and timeless newborn photos.
Best Time to Get Newborn Photos Done
The best time to take newborn photos is within the first two weeks of life, ideally between days 5 and 14. During this time, your baby is still very sleepy, making it easier to achieve those adorable, curled-up newborn poses. Their natural flexibility from being in the womb allows for the best newborn photography positions and keeps them calm and comfortable throughout the session.
Best Time of Day for a Newborn Photoshoot
The best time of day for newborn photos is typically in the morning when babies are naturally sleepier and more settled. A peaceful morning session also allows for soft, natural lighting, perfect for in-home newborn photography.
What If My Newborn Is Older?
If your newborn is already past the two-week window, don’t worry! While traditional posed newborn photography is best within the first two weeks, beautiful newborn photos can still be captured up to three or even four weeks old. Older newborns may be more alert, but that opens the opportunity for engaging, eye-contact shots that showcase their developing personality.
